Monica Chincilla

LAW CLERK | ACTIVIST

Monica is an accomplished professional accustomed to breaking barriers, tackling complex problems, and advocating effectively. It is these same qualities she brings to Tyz Law Group, adding bench strength to the team to support the firm’s active and growing litigation practice.

Monica got her start in law as a Paralegal in the Law Offices of Stephen Murphy, a civil litigation firm where she worked on high stakes disputes in state and Federal courts. While in law school, Monica served as a Clerk for the Honorable Beverly Wood at the Marin County Superior Court; Intern at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office in the Contracts and Construction Team; Student Clinician at the University of San Francisco Intellectual Property Clinic; Summer Associate at Liebert Cassidy and Whitmore; Legal Intern in-house at Mixpanel; and extern at Tyz Law Group.

Prior to launching her legal career, Monica honed her advocacy skills through her community organizing roots. She has led and passed successful initiatives and campaigns focused on Latinx, Black, and API families in San Francisco through her roles as a Commissioner for the Southeast Community Facility, Campaign Manager for the SF Soda Tax, and Facilitator for both the SF Latinx Parity and Equity Coalition and the California Equity in Early Care Education Coalition. She also has experience working in high stakes environments and delivering positive results. As the Chief of Staff for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, District 11, she handled all COVID response for her community and helped bring $28 million for food and housing assistance for communities most impacted. In this role, she also drafted, passed, and implemented various citywide initiatives.

Prior to seeking her J.D., Monica earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of San Francisco. When she is not knocking it out of the park, Monica enjoys cooking and eating good food, traveling the world, being in nature, and is a lifelong musical theatre nerd who will often be seen performing at SF piano bars (with a delicious martini of course!).
