Chieh’s passion in her practice stems from her belief that behind every client's case, there is a compelling story to be told, and that story is the path to winning.
Chieh is experienced in all stages of litigation, from pre-dispute resolution through discovery, dispositive motions, trial, and judgment enforcement. Chieh also has substantial expertise in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and JAMS.
Chieh represents technology clients across a wide spectrum of litigation matters, and has achieved the following:
Obtained a favorable settlement for a technology client concerning breach of consumer electronics licensing agreements
Secured two favorable rulings from the United States Court of Appeal for the Federal Circuit against multiple patent claims against a highly ranked Fortune 100 company, and an award of over $6 million in attorneys' fees
Obtained a jury verdict for a content creator asserting copyright claims in the Northern District of California
Obtained a jury verdict for a pro bono client asserting race and sex discrimination claims in the Northern District of California
Successfully defended against mass consumer privacy claims regarding smart home technologies
Advised on and settled dozens of digital accessibility claims made under state and federal law
Chieh's multicultural background (born and raised in Taipei and fluent in Mandarin) has allowed her and the Tyz Law team to litigate international disputes more effectively.
Before joining Tyz Law Group, Chieh was litigator at Fenwick & West. Chieh received her J.D. with honors (Order of the Coif) from Berkeley Law, during which she externed for the Honorable David O. Carter in the United States District Court, Central District of California. Before law school, Chieh was a legal analyst at Google for five years. Her responsibilities included reviewing requests from international jurisdictions concerning intellectual property, privacy, defamation, and national security.
Outside of litigating, Chieh loves backpacking, cycling in the summer evenings, a warm fire in the winter, listening to her records while cooking, and daffodils.
